Michigan State basketball is in pursuit of a transfer portal shooting guard, one that will fill the void left by Jase Richardson and Tre Holloman’s departures. On Tuesday, it was made clear that the Spartans have a target they are closing in on.

Michigan State is hosting Samford shooting guard transfer Trey Fort on an official visit. Fort is coming off a season with Samford in which he averaged 14.6 points, 4 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 44.8% field goal and 37.9% 3-point shooting splits. He is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard.

Prior to Samford, Fort spent time at Tennessee-Martin, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Howard College and Mississippi State. He has been at five schools in five years and will conclude his sixth and final season in college basketball at a sixth school.

Justin Thind of 247Sports reported the news and shared that Fort was on his official visit with Michigan State.

Fort played one minute in MSU’s NCAA Tournament game against Mississippi State and in November’s game against MSU with Samford, he scored four points on 1-for-8 shooting.

We will see if this recruitment progresses into Michigan State landing their starting shooting guard for 2025-26.
