The NIT semifinals have arrived, and it’s Chattanooga taking on Loyola Chicago at Hinkle Fieldhouse to decide who punches their ticket to the championship game on Thursday, April 3.

Chattanooga finished the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the college ranks, winning 11 in a row to reverse their fortunes and earn a spot in the NIT. They’d lose in the second round of their conference tournament to Furman (80-77 in OT) before running off three straight victories in the NIT.
In their last game, they defeated Bradley 67-65, despite trailing by 13 at halftime, with Honor Huff leading the team, scoring 21 points. Trey Bonham added 17 points and six rebounds in the win.
Loyola Chicago took a similar path to the NIT, winning nine of their last 11 games to raise their record from 12-8 to 21-10 before bowing out in the second round of their conference tournament.
In the NIT, Loyola has defeated San Jose State (73-70), San Francisco (77-76) and most recently Kent State (72-62) to earn their spot in the semifinals. Against Kent State, it was sophomore center Miles Rubin leading the way, scoring 18 points on 8-for-9 shooting, to go with nine rebounds. Rubin led the A-10 conference in 2-point field goal percentage during the regular season at 70.4%.
