The Colorado Avalanche (48-29-4) face the Anaheim Ducks (35-36-8) for the final game of the regular season. The Avs secured their position in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last week. The Ducks were not in the Wild Card race and look to end the season on an even note. The puck is scheduled to drop at 8:08 p.m. MT at the Honda Center.

Both the Avs and the Ducks lost their last games to the Los Angeles Kings. Colorado fell 5-4 in a tight game on Saturday afternoon and made the quick turnaround to finish the season in the second game of a back-to-back.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 27 saves, and Brock Nelson netted two goals — surpassing 300 for his career. Valeri Nichushkin and Sam Malinski contributed goals, but the offensive reward was not enough to earn points.

Anaheim lost 6-1 to the Kings on Thursday night, with the lone goal coming from Cutter Gauthier. The Ducks play two more games — against the Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets. They are currently at .494% and look to finish the season above .500%.

The Avs’ final matchup of the season is Jared Bednar’s 700th career NHL game. He is the 16th head coach in league history with that many games under his belt for the same franchise.
