Paige Buekers, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, addressed rumored opposition to being drafted by the Dallas Wings, Front Office Sports reports.

DALLAS — The No. 1 prospect in the upcoming WNBA draft is UConn’s Paige Bueckers, making her a likely target for the Dallas Wings, which has the No. 1 pick in the draft.

However, rumors have swirled that Bueckers will try to force herself out of being drafted by the Wings, according to Front Office Sports. Ahead of her April 5 semifinal game against UCLA in Tampa, Bueckers responded to rumors about her professional future, according to Front Office Sports.

The WNBA draft is Monday, April 14, in New York City.

“I don’t know,” Bueckers responded when asked by Front Office Sports what she thinks of reports that she may not end up playing for the Wings. “The reports are the reports. People write stories, and it’s whatever. Honestly, I’m not really worried about that at the moment. I’m just worried about being here, being present with the team, and trying to get better every single day. So whatever the future may hold, it’s only in God’s hands.”

The Dallas Wings will host a WNBA draft party April 14 at College Park Center in Arlington. Tickets are free, the team announced. The Wings have made several adjustments to their staff this offseason, hiring Chris Koclanes to replace Latricia Trammel and added Curt Miller as their general manager.

Bueckers added there is nowhere in particular that she would like to end up, as indicated by reports, Front Office Sports said.

“Nowhere specific,” Bueckers said. “Wherever I end up.”

Buekers and UConn will face defending national champion South Carolina at 3 p.m. Sunday in Tampa.
