Chicago Fire is saying goodbye to Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett.

Kyri, 30, and Lockett, 30, will not be returning to the NBC procedural. Sources told Deadline, which was first to report the news, that the actors will not be a part of season 14 should the series be renewed for another installment.

PEOPLE has reached out to NBC for comment.

Kyri has taken on the role of Firefighter Darren Ritter for the last seven seasons. He joined the series in season 7 as a recurring guest star before he was promoted to a series regular after two seasons. Lockett, on the other hand, has portrayed Firefighter Sam Carver for three seasons since joining the show in season 11.

In a post shared to his Instagram Stories, Kyri confirmed his exit by reposting the Deadline‘s social media post and writing a short message to fans.

“I’ll miss this character, and it’s time to move on,” he wrote alongside a kissy face emoji. “Thank you to the cast, crew & the awesome fans.”

Per Deadline, the two actors’ exits are believed to be the result of budget cuts, and many of the series’ veteran cast members at the end of their contracts will face negotiations. Sources told the outlet that there may be more exits across all five of the One Chicago franchise’s shows.

Chicago Fire’s last major exit saw Eamonn Walker leave the series after 12 seasons as Wallace Boden, the Deputy District Chief of District 4. Season 12 was full of shake-ups for the series, as Kara Killmer exited after nearly 10 years on the show and Taylor Kinney returned after taking a leave of absence to deal with a “personal matter,” a source close to production told PEOPLE at the time.

Nearly one year after announcing his exit, Walker reprised his role for an April 16 episode.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, showrunner Andrea Newman said they were “so excited to have our beloved Chief Boden back, and the episode, titled ‘Post-Mortem,’ is a thrill ride unlike any we’ve done before.”

She continued of the special episode, “Told with flashbacks and unique POVs, Chief Boden leads our team on a search to discover the how, who, and why of a fierce firefight that ended in disaster.”
